Many thanks to a very special Southern Belle , Peg Cox, for spending many a sleepless night and making trips to the library to help with the finishing details on this site. Peg has adopted "Mr. Bill", as she affectionately calls him, as one of her heroes and e-mail companions. She has come close to memorizing these Memoirs -- her heart was really in it! Thanks, Tennebuddy, with all the Yankee enthusiasm I can muster!A generous thank you to Bill Mauldin, who served in WWII with the 45th Infantry Division. After the war he became one fo the most distinguished editorial cartoonists in America for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and received Pulitzer Prises for editorial cartooning in 1944 and 1959. Thank you to Ken Houghton Rail Images for providing the train sketch adapted to the graphic in Chapter Four.And last, but not least, to the thousands of cyberfolk who offer their artwork and archives to the net community without asking anything in return.
